Members of the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) are not need to have a work visa or work permit in order to work legally in Latvia. However, non-EEA citizens need both, and they can apply for both when applying for a long-stay visa.
A Long-Stay Visa D allows a person to enter Latvia for up to a year, although depending on the kind of national visa, which varies based on the job and qualifications of the foreign national, a work permit and/or residence permit may be required.
